Dr. Cengiz Sezen, Chairman of MN Pharmaceuticals, Received Merit Badge from Germany

German Federal Republic awarded Dr. Cengiz Sezen, Chairman of MN Pharmaceuticals, with Merit Badge. The Badge, given to Dr. Cengiz Sezen because of his contributions in Turkish-German participations, was presented by the German Ambassador Dr. Eckart Cuntz on behalf of German President Dr. Horst Köhler in a ceremony held in Istanbul.

November 13, 2006, Istanbul. German Federal Republic awarded Dr. Cengiz Sezen, Chairman of MN Pharmaceuticals and who also was an industrialist for many years in Germany and contributed to the improvement of goodwill between Turkey and Germany, with a Merit Badge. The Badge, given by the President of the German Republic Dr. Horst Köhler, was presented to Dr. Sezen by Dr. Eckart Cuntz, the Ambassador of Germany, along with a certificate signed by Dr. Horst Köhler.

Ambassador Cuntz pointed out the industrial activities and social contributions of Dr. Sezen in Germany and said the following in the ceremony held in the Summer residence of the German Embassy in Tarabya:

“Along with your success as a businessman, what you have achieved in improving and strengthening the ties between Germany and Turkey by your studies in social and cultural levels for many years have impressed me very much. It is incomplete to just mention how you worked to improve Turkish-German relations in the past years because you incessantly continue to work both in Germany and Turkey to contribute to the relations.”

Ambassador Cuntz also mentioned Dr. Sezen’s, among his many activities in Turkey, contributions to the development of ALKEV (German high school culture and education foundation) of which he is the president and to the German school. He also pointed out Dr. Sezen’s support in the Turkish-German Economical Cultural Foundation which was funded by the German Embassy.

Dr. Cengiz Sezen, Chairman of MN Pharmaceuticals, stated that he is proud that Germany has presented him with the Merit Badge. Emphasizing the importance of education in German language, Dr. Sezen went on to say:

“It is very important that our children grow up exposed to both cultures. Children who have received this education will make important contributions to Turkey in the future. However, only children of families with sufficient economical means can attend the schools that give German education. In order to change this picture and allow more of our children to benefit from this, we are waiting for the support of the business world.”
