MN Pharmaceuticals is the main sponsor of 'Pinhole Photographs' exhibition consisting of studies by 'needle hole' technique.
June 17, 2008, Istanbul. MN Pharmaceuticals, one of the leading companies in Turkish pharmaceutical industry, is sponsoring the exhibition of 'Pinhole Photographs' taken by a technique that dates 2500 years back. The exhibition will be open in Istanbul Modern Art Gallery until August 24, 2008.
The exhibition which is designed by curator Engin Ozendes consists of 67 photographs. The photographs of 33 students, who were encouraged by Nuri Gurdil, the Turkish language and literature teacher in Adana Adasokagi Highschool, transmit the infinite depth of images the light produces as it passes through a pinhole in a miraculous way.
Dr. Cengiz Sezen, PhD, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MN Pharmaceuticals, stated in the press meeting of the exhibition that supporting art is an integral part of the identity of their company; and he continued as follows:
"We, as MN Pharmaceuticals, are contributing to the development of our country’s pharmaceutical industry by our scientific and technological investments. While doing this, we are performing our other obligations to our country and community as well. Within this frame, our support to art carries a big importance and is an integral part of our company’s identity. We are happy and proud to support a meaningful art activity such as 'Pinhole Photographs'. And most importantly, today, where digital cameras and modern techniques such as photoshop are being used widely, this exhibition presents us the creativity and dynamism of art in its pure way."

"A photograph legend" under the leadership of Nuri Gurdil
The photograph atelier founded by the Turkish language and literature teacher Nuri Gurdil in Adana Adasokagi Highschool and continued in Tepebag Highschool has become an example to the schools in Adana. These photograph studies are now being conducted in 10 other schools in Seyhan, Pozanti and Yuregir districts.
Since students participating in the photograph atelier founded by Nuri Gurdil cannot obtain the necessary equipments, they have overcome this obstacle by Pinhole technique which works basically on Camera Obscura principle, the most primitive from of the camera. Students created the Pinhole equipments by using cans and similar objects with holes on them.
The 33 young photographers created very interesting images using light that emerges from the holes in the cans. In their photographs, they have used the light in a very impressive way and seized compositions that are very hard to catch by pinhole technique. When they were expressing themselves, they once more emphasized that it is not the camera that takes the picture but it is the creativity that counts. Under the leadership of their teachers, this group of young talents proved that for taking good pictures, not the expensive camera but wisdom and altruism is a must. Students in the other schools have also formed photograph ateliers by using the same method.
